Mail shot from SurgeTrader offering trading funding
I received an email out the blue to see if I wanted to be funded as a trader. I asked where they obtained my email address and was later informed that I attended a partner seminar where they found my address. This is not true as I have not attended seminars for years. When I have attended a seminar, I never give permission for 3rd party mail shots. Can't be proved one way or the other. I am very angry that this company obtained my email address from somewhere and started to mail shot me. I contacted them via chat and of course they referred me to their web pages for information. The front page requests payments for them to "audition" your skills as a trader. HAHAHAHA! See their front page requesting fees for "auditions".
I did suggest to them that they were scammers and that I would refer this case to the UK Information Commissioners.
Anyone being contacted by these people should act with due diligence and suspicion. This company only opened in June 2021 according to the information I obtained.
Be careful traders and DYOR. :)

You received an email from us, as you’d attended a virtual trader conference that our partner sponsored. The option to rescind permission is conveniently located at the bottom of the email and, of course, per regulation (and common courtesy), we’d no longer contact you if you’d opted out.
We’ve reviewed the chat and, respectfully, we never solicited payment from you. In fact, our agent politely asked for your email so that we could (1) source it back for you, per your request, and (2) remove you from our mailer. You declined, called us names and left.
Like you, we encourage all traders to do their due diligence before partnering with a prop trading firm. We've worked hard to launch SurgeTrader this year, and while our launch was only in June (not October), SurgeTrader is a legitimate, US-based prop trading firm with many traders in our community. We pride ourselves on being transparent and open with the trader community.
