A totally unethical business
We moved into our new house as private residents. It had previously been a holiday let. Despite the property being re-listed as a private residence on the date of our purchase and our Council Tax bill (covering our water charges) starting from the date we moved in, we received letters from Clear Business stating we had ‘deemed to have entered a contract with them’ and they would bill us. Clear Business failed to respond to an e mail from our solicitor stating we were not under contract with them, they failed to respond to a complaint via e mail from us, they failed to respond to an e mail providing details of the fact the property is now residential from the council. Instead they wrote us another letter saying their parent company would be sending us a water bill. As private residents, with no connection to Clear Business, this is unacceptable and the latest letter we have just received will be referred to our solicitor. Avoid this appalling company.
Response to reply below from Clear Business:
We do not have an account with you. We are two private individuals who bought a house that was a previous holiday let. We received letters saying we had deemed to have entered a contract with you despite water being provided under our council tax and our WiFi being with another provider from the day we bought the house. Despite having evidence from the SAA that the house is residential we continued to receive letters from yourselves. We had not heard of Clear Business until we moved in. I contacted our solicitor this morning and she confirmed Clear Business did not respond to her e mail on our behalf.
